Actually it is a five point white star with a black circle in the centre.
They are called "Terminal Stop Marks for Electric Trains". and used where
the Overhead Equipment terminates, except where Buffer Stops are provided.
Stop Boards are errected 50 feet inside the Terminal Clamp or other point
where the Pantograph would leave the wire. They can be placed on a post or
hung from the Overhead where the Driver can view it.
